In the last few days, Laura has really taken charge of standing by herself. She will initiate steps and is now pulling her hands out of our hands to stand by herself. Something is clicking, at least for the time being. She will stand for an entire Elmo's World show with maybe one or two leans on my hand or the table. Last Friday, we stood through 3 Elmo's!!
We are still have issues with an aggressive, probably frustrated, yell. She is so impatient sometimes. (couldn't be that Irish blood..) :) But we are definitely not doing what she wants to do. She is also getting into grinding her teeth to wind down just before bed or naps. What we call "Chompers" (oral T's) are really a big help.
We are at the end of our school year for her, and we are working on getting her into a swim class, as well as a camp designed for kids with cerebral palsy, but it seems it will work for her too. The director was really interested in learning about Rett and the similarities. They work under the Conductive Education philosophy, so should be interesting. We first have to get fully approved for it, of course.:_
I am hoping to get back into the blog world and keep updating. End of the year for us is just brutal.
